I still think about him pretty much every second of every day and can't imagine things getting better. What makes it worse it that I know he wants me too - there's reasons why we can't be together, and have had to stop contact completely which is hell. How can I get over him and get on with my life???

Of course, the obvious question is what are the reasons? You can't get over him because it was an unclean break and the feelings are still there and you are right things probably wont get better because even when the pain of seperation has faded you will be left with the 'what if's' and they tend not to go away.
If they can be overcome; and without knowing what they are it is hard for anybody to say, I suggest you try and battle past them. Life is too short to cave when you have something that is obviously so special to both of you. Good luck :)
