Was this a polite rejection?

Question - (8 June 2016) 4 Answers - (Newest, 9 June 2016)
A female Turkey age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So I have been interested in guy who works the next building from mine. He's always friendly and was giving off subtle signs of interest. I finally gave him my number and told him to call/text sometime. He said sure. Then I ran into him today and he said "not only did I lost your number but I broke my phone at soccer".Yet he didn't ask for my number again.

I have to admit that I'm bummed since I really liked him and wanted to get to know him better. It seems like he's not interested in me in that way. Is he trying to let me down easy?

Honeypie agony auntI think you are right, he isn't looking to get to know you better. So if I were you I'd just stick to being polite and friendly and no more.

Could be he has a GF and didn't think calling you were appropriate, not did he want to divulge private information about himself.

I'd suggest you look OUTSIDE of work for dating material, it can get a bit awkward if it doesn't work out.

yes, a very polite brush off. Go away, basically. Not bad though....more like, say "hi" but from a distance.
