No, it just shows what a nice guy you are, which I'm sure she'll remember in the future!
Theres also a possibility she was asking YUR advice because she likes YOU and wanted to see how you'd react.
See how it goes with this guy and if she becomes available again, give her some time and then ask her out, maybe to the cinema etc.

Of course it wasn't stupid to help your friend, im sure she appreciates your help and will recognise what an un selfish act this was. However, it is understandable that you feel left out now that they are going on a date. I'm sure she will need a shoulder to cry on one day if all doesn't work out..prehaps you can be that shoulder and who knows maybe you'll pluck up the courage to let her know how you really feel.
