writes: I had unprotected sex twice about a week and 2 days ago(it was a Friday and Saturday). The day after, which would have been Sunday,my period was supposed to start. I am on birth control, and was on the last set of pills at the end, which are supposed to trigger your period. On Monday I started having VERY light brown spottiing, which lasted up until 2 days ago,so about 3 or 4 days it lasted. It was so light that I barely even noticed. I took a pregnancy test exactly a week after we had sex just to see,but I am thinking it may have been to early to pick up on it if I am pregant? But in any case,it did come out negative. I'm planning to wait a week and test again. My question is,do you think that the light spotting could have been implantation bleeding? Or just a very light period? I usually get them heavy, and have some spotting occasionaly throughout the month as well because I am on the pill. But this was definetly not normal,I mean it was so light I could have even missed it completely had I not been checking very closely, because I wanted my period to come! And is it even possible to get pregnant and miss a period that soon after possible conception? Or would I have had this months period, and missed next month? I'm so confused, any advice is appreciated!

If you have been taking the pill regularly there is very little chance you are pregnant. It was most likely spotting/a light period, which can happen on the pill. If you are worried, take another test in a week or so first thing in the morning.

Although it isn't impossible to get pregnant on the birth control pill it is 99.9% effective which means that even if you don't use any other means of protection the chances of you getting pregnant are very low. I have been on the pill myself for 3 years and never used any other means and I am not pregnant and haven't been. Periods also often vary so I shouldn't worry too much never the less, do another test maybe in about 2 weeks time and see if next months period comes. Best of luck.
