Valetines day for a couple that isn't "lovey"

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So my boyfriend and I aren't really the sappy cutesy couple. We don't have pet names, we're not clingy and attached to the hip, and we haven't done the whole "I love you" thing yet.

We've been dating for 8 months, and we talk about how we like eachother, but neither of us has the guts to say the L word, at least I know I don't.

As far as Valentines day goes, I don't have the funds for a present, and I highly doubt he'll be getting me anything fancy, so I figured the least I could do was get him a card.

The problem is, it's hard to shop for Valentines day cards. They're all "I love you so much, you complete me" and I obviously can't get him that if we haven't said it yet. I don't really want to get a funny one, because that's all we do is joke around.

I'm at a loss of what to get him now. He's a nerdy gamer, and I've found some amazing gamer Valentines day cards online, but it seems so cheesy to print out a card like that.

So what is there left for me to get him?

P.S. We haven't done anything sexual before, and if I do go over to his place to celebrate, it will be no privacy with his 3, possibly 4 roomates. So something simple like a blowjob is kind of out of the picture.

fishdish agony auntwhy don't you make your own card? It shows you put in effort and thought, and you could include all your inside jokes inside. maybe you could request a romantic walk in the snow, maybe sledding even, if that wouldn't be making it into a big thing! you can say something in the card that doesn't have to say love, but i've been having such a good time with you these past 8 months, hope we keep making each other laugh for a long time to come. that makes you look emotionally invested and isn't necessarily super-commital or vulnerable..good luck with whatever you decide! let us know :)
