Anyways, earier this morning my mum said something about getting to the doctors to get put on the pill, but with me being fifteen she wasn't completley sure. I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half and we are sexually active (which my mum doesn't know) so me being on the pill and my mum knowing would be pretty ideal just so we could be even more protected than we are.I'm sick of the pain i'm in and its something frequent which interferees with daily life and missing school, how could i persuade my mum to get to the doctors to be put on the pill?advice please x

I'm 20 and I had the exact same problem when I was your age. I had really bad period pains - I couldnt even stand up straight they were so bad. When I went to the doctor he put me on the pill as it can obviously help control the periods, lessens blood flow and means all round a happier time. Obviously being on the pill means you are using a contraceptive too - but that doesn't mean you are fully protected as no contraceptive is 100% so just be careful. Also you will need to always remember that when you are on the pill - if you are taking an antibiotic at the same time for a cold or something, the pill wont work as a contraceptive so during that time you still need to use a condom. As for your mum - well she's a woman too and she'll know about period pains and how bad they can get and Im sure if you just explain to her that you've read it can help with pains, she'll understand.
Best of luck.
Oh and that doesnt help, ask the doctor for a pain killer called ponstan. I'm on that too and it really helps with th pains.

My advice to you would be to go to the doctors, Doctors keep all information strictly confidential and your mum wouldn't even know, unless she finds the packet.
Your mum should understand about you going on the pill, it will also help enormously with your periods as it did me. Go ahead! Good luck!
