A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I was wondering if someone could help me on the subject of periods.

I'm normally regular, and on time every month. My periods aren't heavy and only last three or four days.

So anyway i was due to start my period this week. I can always tell when im going to come on because my boobs get really sensitive. So i came on, on tuesday. It was only light, but i noticed it wasn't the bloody red it was more black/brown, the colour it is at the end of a period :S The next day was just like brown discharge and now its stopped, as though my period has stopped! My boobs aren't sensitive anymore, so i take it thats the end for this month :S Im a bit confused though, is this normal?

I am also in a sexual relationship with my boyfriend of one year. He is my only sexual partner though. I thought id state this to you but hope this hasn't got anything to do with my period though!

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (5 June 2009):

Your cycle may change from time to time.

We've had some very hot weather this month, so you may have been a bit more dehydrated than usual... all these little things can have an affect.

The fact that you bled on time, and it was just a bit shorter than normal says to me it's PROBABLY nothing to be worried about if there were no other symptoms.

HOWEVER: I am just a random on the internet and not medically trained. So if you are concerned then take a pregnancy test or give NHS Direct a ring.

Good Luck!! xx
