Listen to your heart, what does that tell you? What is it saying? I think deep down you know who you want to be with but you are still attached to the other, which makes you wonder if you are making the right choice.
As for the rumors, keep close to your friends, let them know that none of it is true and who knows! You could actually look back on this problem and laugh about it!
