 When she is on her own ask her. Dont do it in front of anybody else, this is called damage limitation.....

 You're focussing on the possible negatives and, I think, exaggerating your worries.
Trust me on one thing: she will giggle. No matter what. Girls your age just DO. They giggle with their friends, they giggle about teachers, they giggle about boys. It's nothing personal.
And she will talk to her friends about it. Because that's another thing girls do. They discuss and dissect their lives with their friends.
As to the whole school laughing at you, I think you're overstating your importance in the scheme of things. Be realistic: the most likely scenario is that she'll be flattered and say Yes. Less likely, but still possible is an answer like "sorry, I can't".
That doesn't really translate well into making you a laughingstock. It's just a "no thanks".
Ask her anyway. What if she says Yes?

well son if you dont ask this girl out you will never know the answer.she may say no .so what if she does .at least you had the courage to ask .she may suprise you and say yes if every one laughs. laugh with them say at least i tried it was my first try . say you lose some and you gain some. go for it son. what have you got to lose. all the best lois
