Do you mean in pretty clothes, costumes or lingerie? Big difference there.
If it's pretty clothes (let's say a hot dress and heals) DRESS up for yourself. Wear either the naughtiest panties or some hilarious granny panties - and here is why. YOU are the only one who knows what's under the dress, THAT can give confidence, even if it sounds ridiculous.
If it lingerie, well... If you WANT to do it. Try it on when you are alone, heck, wear it under sweats and go about your business. If you don't know if you want to wear "that" stuff, then don't force yourself. Just know that your man thinks your are gorgeous and he wants you to think likewise.
If it's customes ( aka roleplay) it has to be something you really want to do.

You sound like you have confidence issues, I'm the same, I giggled like mad when my previous partner asked the same thing, but he was serious, and looking back now, I would imagine him asking was a harder thing for him to ask, than it was for me to do, as he was the one who was asking for something 'out of the norm'.
I remember, coming out the bathroom, wearing something I felt I looked bloody terrible in, and taking a big breath and facing him, I looked at his face, looking for a visual sign of disgust, and all I saw was lust, it was sooo cool, and loads of fun.
Do it, if it fails, laugh at it, it is doesn't, enjoy.
Good Luck.
