well i have been going to the gym and asked the same question you have and they said that its often preffered that you eat a light meal after the gym. I found this quite hard to be honest but good luck it works too

You can google it up to find the reason why. Therefore, no, dont head on to the gym after a heavy meal!

It's best to give it at least a couple of hours before doing exercise, ie you don't want food in your stomach.
Try having a snack or small meal consisting of complex carbohydrates as this can help with your stamina.

I'm not a doctor, but popular opinion is that it is risky to eat for the hour before any exercise, as the blood supply is diverted from the muscle groups (heart, etc) - to go to the stomach/intestines to digest the food. This can result in muscle cramps, or, in severe cases, a heart attack.. Again, I stress that I am not a doctor, but better to be safe than sorry.

Won't kill you (usually) but it's more common to eat after going to the gym than before. Depends on whether you're after weight loss/muscle building etc. There are lots of good sites on weight loss, try a google and see what comes up.
