Hey :)

Well I was thinking about getting my belly button piereced, but im not sure if its a good idea or not! It looks cool, but although im ok with pain, its needles im not a fan off, although I can cope. I mean I got through my TB jab! So the main thing putting me off is the needle right now. Also I hear they become infected a lot.

My mum is fine with it... well maybe I should say she has AGREED to it, althought doesnt think its one of my better ideas ;) So, being 16, is it possible to get it done without adult consent? As I would get it done after school, as thats when im near anywhere that does it.

So any advice here? If you have had it done, what does it feel like and how much does it hurt, when its being done, and afterwards etc. Thanks :) x

TasteofIndia agony auntIf you go in (make sure that it smells like a Doctor's office when you go in. Seriously, fine the cleanest place you can and ask lots of questions to make sure that they're using completely clean equipment, etc.), they'll let you know if you can't be pierced due to not enough skin to pierce through. They'll let you know if you've got a "problem belly button".

I wasn't exactly watching when they pierced me, I think they stick the needle in first and then the ring, but it feels like one movement and it's over in 5 seconds. It feels like a solid pinch rather than say, a prick or a stapler. But, it's over so quickly and then you have a gorgeous piercing! I'll bet if you go to YouTube and type in "Belly Button Piercing" you can watch it being done. You Tube has everything.

Good luck!

Sweety Pie agony auntThanks everyone :) Im realy tempted.. but also a bit concerned, as I cannont seem pull any skin up from my belly button, so im worried about how they are gonna pierce it! Im a bit skinny :S

Also, do they use a gun, so it goes in straight away? Or do they have to stick a needle through and THEN put the bar in? Thanks x

Hi,

Do not pierce it! Unpierced belly buttons are very sexy! Piercings just ruin their sexyness.

Xx-Scorpio-xX agony auntI quite like them. I've not had mine done, but i've had quite a few other piercings and they've not been too bad. It probably wouldn't hurt too much and it will be over and done with before you know it. (that's what my piercings were like!) :)

At 16 i think you can get a piercing (that isn't nipple or genitals)without parental consent. I got my rook done for my 16th birthday and my mum didn't have to sign, she just came with me. Just make sure you go to a good piercer.

The only thing with them that puts me off is that so many people seem to have them. At my school loads of girls in my year (year 11) have them done.

But still, it's your choice. Good luck if you do get it done! :)

TasteofIndia agony auntI got my belly button pierced on my 18 birthday and LOVED IT for 4 years, then took it out to change it, couldn't get it back in, thought to myself "eh, I'll just wait until tomorrow" and sadly, it never got back in. I had to go back in and get it redo.

It doesn't hurt too badly - worse than your ears, but not horribly. It's sore afterwards, but again, not horribly. Not more than your ears would be post piercing. I wouldn't take it out for close to a year afterward, you want it to fully heal because trust me, it is a BITCH getting the rings back in!

Good luck!
