The "ups" and "downs" or condoms... any ideas?

Question - (29 March 2011) 2 Answers - (Newest, 30 March 2011)
A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have been having a few problems with erections. I have been with this girl for about 6 months and at first because I was new to sex I had problems keeping my erection. I gathered this was due to performance anxiety.

Then after about 3 weeks after getting closer to her I was fine for a few months. However, just recently over the last few weeks I've been suffering the same problem and I'm rather confused.

I can usually keep an erection during the majority of foreplay even when it's all focused on her. I can also keep it erect without it being touched at all when we're just kissing.

However, as soon as I get a condom I just lose it and find it very hard to stay erect. I don't know why though as I haven't had this problem before. I prefer condoms as they are safer and I can last longer and overall, I enjoy the sex more. So I have no idea what has happened to make me lose the mood when I use a condom. They are not too tight or uncomfortable and it is nothing to do with nerves. So I'm just clueless. Any ideas?

A male reader, Welsh Uncle Dave United Kingdom +, writes (30 March 2011):

Condoms can make you lose much of the sensation that you would normally have when you have sex without condoms.

Try using thinner condoms like Durex Fetherlite and see how you get on.
