A crush is a feeling, a boyfriend is the result of action as in you've decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend.

Blue,
That is an interesting question from a person your age.
I'm guessing you want to understand a slang term that is new to you. It would probably be better to get answers from many age groups. I'm in your age group.
When I talk about a Crush, I'm talking about a short term infatuation. The kind that happens so often to kids in the 13 - 15 age group. You think about the crush all the time. You want to see him/her as often as possible. It is often one sided. It is more selfish than love. A crush rarely lasts longer than 6 weeks.
My Girls (18-21) don't use the term with me. My son (13) hasn't discovered girls seriously. A girl did crush on him this past year. He was pretty much oblivious to it. Poor girl.
