Oh, heres another story from Waterloo Sunset pages.

On Christmas, not that long ago, when my son, James and I lived on our own. I set out to get a Christmas tree on my own, always having the help of someone to get this for me in the past, it seems a bit daunting at first. I bought one from our local garage, all netting up and with the help from the garage girl i got it into the back of the car. It was a bit larger than i had thought.

On getting home i got a neighbour to help me lift it to the back of the house and stood it for 24 hours in a bucket of water, i had read the instructions in a book many years ago, i think!

I had a slice from a tree trunk with a hole cut in it ready to fit a tree in, but the trunk had to be the exact size. This one was way too large, er um i didnt have anything to cut it with. So after searching throught the kitchen drawer i found a handy bread knife. I cut away at this bloody thing for over one hour and it didnt seem to be getting any better. I took a trip to a friends house and asked if she could lend me a stanley knife, she knows just what i am like with sharp instruments and came back with a blunt looking saw. Got this home and still now joy. So it was back to the bread knife and two and a half hours later the bottom fitted into the bit of wood. Thank goodness for that! So i carried the log base into the house and placed it in the corner ready for the tree. We had three steps out the back. I slipped off the top of. The bloody tree shot out of my arms and got wedged under the dining room table. It took me another 15 minutes to get the bloody thing from there to the corner of the room. Only to discover it was too tall and i had to cut three feet off the bloody top!!!! What a state it was left in, but i left it in the corner of the room while i brought my son from school. He was in the house for 2 hours before he even noticed it!!!!

We spent the next half hour laughing at it, it leaned to the side, looked like something from star wars, but once the decorations were on it, it look ok, but what a laugh!! I will never forget that Christmas tree.

It was well worth it in the end just for the memories.

James still talks about it now.

Take care all and have a brilliant tree filled Christmas and Peaceful New Year 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you all
