 If things were really bad between you and nothing has been done to change things (just missing someone after they're gone doesn't change the fundamental problems), I don't see any reason for why you would try again with him.
Enjoy being single, date some other guys, see how you feel. If some time passes and you and the first guy still have feelings for each other, there will be plenty of time then to see if it is worth trying again.
