A male Canada age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Dear Cupid,

I'm a university student, and recently came back to school from a 4 month work placement in another city. In the work placement I met a girl who I thought was special but avoided going further that just friends for a few reasons, mostly because of my shyness, but also because she had mentioned having a boyfriend. I'm not sure how she felt, or feels about me, there were points when I thought she also liked me, and times when it seemed like the opposite. I'm not sure whether to tell her how I feel, or just let it go. Any advice on what to do from here?

Thanks

A female reader, Kuroneko Canada +, writes (3 November 2008):

If you know or suspect that she has a boyfriend, it may not be the best idea to try and pursue her, especially if she may have feelings for you. If it is apparent that she's having trouble in her relationship, encourage her to hash it out with her boyfriend first. It would make it harder for her if she did like you and you professed your feelings to her.
