A female reader, Agony Auntie Smiles United Kingdom +, writes (2 April 2010):

Agony Auntie Smiles agony auntIt would be nice to answer that "love will find a way" but that would be (as Wilma Proops says) "pie in the sky".

The best course of action would be to stay in touch but not to do this enough to exclude you from having a life and the possibilities of meeting someone you can have a contact-relationship with. In years to come you might go to the US or he might come to the UK. In the meantime you should admit to yourself that moping and being depressed because you can't have the unattainable will not provide you with a good standard of life.
