A female reader, anonymous, writes (21 January 2012):

Don't tell her now but take time and convince her later however, you need to ask her "not to call me brother but a freind" if she accept you won, otherwise forget everything and be a good brother

Tom Obler agony auntHello,

What I would say is that if you do ask and she says, "No, friends only." Don't hang around for ages and hope she will change her mind. Accept whatever decision she makes as final. Ok, see how you get on and let's hope this works for you. Please let us know how you get on and we'll be happy to help further. Good luck.
