writes: This is a financial question that involves my current boyfriend of two years. It will take some explaining so stay with me.....THE UNEMPLOYMENT:I am one of the many people who lost their job and haven't been able to find another. I've been unemployed for 1 year and 2 months. I moved in with my boyfriend six months into unemployment. I am drawing unemployment and also taking freelance jobs. THE BACK STORY:I was left with a lot of debt from my ex-husband which I divorced 2 years prior to my current boyfriend. It was $25,000 in credit card debt that I was unaware of in which I pay out $600 a month. I also have a student loan at $630 a month. I don't have a mortgage, my car is 10yrs old and paid and have no children. I have no savings now and only $4,000 in 401K. (Nothing to fall back on after my divorce) I was ok and getting by before I lost my job.THE QUESTION:After speaking with different credit counseling services I'm basically thinking of Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I know my student loan does not qualify for bankruptcy, but the $25,000 is more than I can bare (and it's not mine to begin with). When I told my boyfriend he suggested that I borrow the $25,000 from him and pay him back when I get a job. It sounds good in the short run, but not sure about the long run. We're not married and have not talked about getting married. He says he's not going anywhere, but I'm not a spring chicken to 100% guarantee that. Plus, when I do become employed I'm still not sure what will happen in the long run. If something happens to my 10 yr. old car that will be another expense. AND if something happens to him and I rent will be another expense. AND... I could get laid off again in the future.Should I take the chance and borrow from him or file bankruptcy to get a fresh start and rebuild my credit??
