I've been told I can go to an international school in Hong Kong in September, and it looks like a really fun school and Hong Kong does seem like a cool place to live for 2 years, but I'm scared. I'm scared I'll be the only white guy there, I'm scared I won't make friends easily (I've had trouble before) and I'm scared of leaving my gay boyfriend and I won't find another boyfriend in Hong Kong. I'll be there on my own because my parents are staying behind, but I'm worried I won't fit in and I'm worried I'll be too stupid to cope with the education system. What do you suggest I do? Should I stay where I am and live a comfortable life, or should I go to the other side of the world where I might be alone for 2 long years? Reply to this Question Share |

I guess what you have to ask yourself is what do you want more. Do you want to go to Hong Kong or stay at home. If you go to Hong Kong I'm sure you'll make friends. There will be plenty of people at this new school. I don't believe that there won't be a single person that won't like you.

I think you should go. I was in the same situation and moved and it was the best move ever. You will definitely not be the only white guy there. Also, being in the minority (as a white guy), the Chinese boys will be very keen. You can always come back home if things do not work out.
Good luck
