A female Australia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Do you think a girl with olive skin tone, brown eyes and long mid brown hair with subtle golden tones would look nice?

Because I just dyed my hair drastic change and everyone liked it but my sister made a comment about how people with my skin tone and dark eyes should only have dark hair? So now i'm doubting whether i should go back dark, sure it looked nice but i've had that for years! I've always wanted lighter hair and this colour really compliments my skin tone and doesn't look orange or yellow like when some of the colours i see. Plus my skin tone isn't even dark it's olive!??

I don't know, is she right should i of just kept my hair darker? Please be honest!!

person12345 agony auntIf it looks good to you then I'm sure it looks great. There is no "should" or "shouldn't" with regards to skin tone and hair color. Do what makes you happy! Hair grows back and you can dye it back at any time. Let it sit like this for awhile to see how you like it. It's always a little scary dramatically changing your hair and there's always a bit of a "shock" the first few days, but let it settle for a bit before making up your mind. I once let my stylist just go crazy on my hair and she dyed it bright, fire engine red with lots of platinum blonde and it was so shocking that I was ready to change it immediately back. But after a few days I realized how unique and cool it looked.

I think that maybe a bit of the green eyed monster is emerging from your sister, She sounds jealous because you are getting lots of compliments and attention and because you feel good about yourself. I think it sounds lovely and once your happy with it i wouldn't let anyone else bother you. :)

It doesn't matter what your sister thinks, its what you think. I personally think it sounds pretty. She might be jealous or unhappy with the change for some reason. Again, remember its what you think, not her

I just went through the same thing you did. I'm olive skinned, have brown eyes, and brown hair. I recently dyed my hair golden blonde. I thought it was nice until I saw the roots. It looks nice with a LOT of makeup and made me look pale! When the roots came out it was horrendous... I immediately dyed it back to my hair color and the difference is really amazing... dark hair looks so much better on me. We look better most with what we were born. If you're having doubts, they will get bigger as more people express their dissatisfaction with your new color. In my opinion, dark looks a lot better on the features you described.
