Just wondering cause I met a girl at uni last semester and we talked a while and she put my number in her phone (never contacted) and I saw her today talked again. I told her the one thing I wanted for christmas was her to call me and she didn't (jokingly, not corny) and she told me she would. Should I just get her number directly next time I see her if she doesn't text me?

However, you left the ball in her court (not a good move) - you should have asked for her number then a little later sent her a text and see how she responded. It's still on option next time you see her.

If I'm interested, then yes. However, If I'm not interested then I don't bother and delete the number.
Girls have a good relationship with their phone. If a guy that are interested in gives them their number, then they text them later that day or the next day to avoid looking too eager.
I'd conclude she's not interested.
Next time, I'd get the girl's number. Although this is 2012, girls still like for the men to do the majority of the chasing.

I think if she wanted to get in touch she would have. Sounds like she's trying to nicely hint that she's not interested. Sorry.
