I agree with Tisha! You should do it, and if you have some friends to go with, all the more fun!
At my first homecoming, I broke up with my boyfriend of eight months after I caught him cheating on me a week and a half earlier. I had my dress and my ticket already, and I decided I wouldn't let him win, and I'd be damned if I was gonna stay home all depressed and alone, so I talked to my friends, went there, and had a complete blast.
My friends were so awesome, and I actually ended up dancing and making out with another guy there who I hadn't known had a huge crush on me while I was with the loser boyfriend, and he made his move when he heard I was single. One of the all-time best nights of my life, and I didn't go with a date!

I think you should, if you want to, and you won't feel awful that you don't have a date. Go with a group of friends and have fun!
