Should I give more time into this 'just sex' relationship?

both come out os long term relationships and both have children. We have been having sex for a year with no ties he says he cares and like me alot but it is just sex. We get on great and a really good friends. Do I give this anymore time.I feel safe and happy with him or at the end of the day is it just meaningless sex. the whole experience has been wonderful. and I would be sad if I stop this as we could be mssiing out on smoething amazing before we have even tried.
