If you like this young man and he likes you why not spend time together. People will always find something to talk about... as for height... well that's not a big deal either.
For what it's worth as you get older that gap of two years will mean NOTHING...

People probably would talk because that's what people are like! But it would be your relationship and if it could make you happy who cares what others say? If you think others opinions would upset you then maybe it is safer to avoid this relationship. If you think you have the confidence to hold your head up high and go out with who you want to then go for it.
