writes:alright well there was this guy that i was seeing and he said he would call me when he was back in town and never did, this was a few weeks ago, i sent him a message asking for a friends info because he was the only one who had it, and he knows it. so he replied with the info and also an unexpected apology. said he had been thinking about me, was sorry for disappearing, it was nothing i did, it was just all the drama with his ex and my friend. then he asked how i was going.i really like this guy and it seems that he likes me, but past drama is a bit hindering.so beyond replying to the question, should i ask if he wants to hang out, or just say what i have been up to and thanks fo rthe info, or something else completlely?

 I would say- "It's no problem, don't worry about it. Thanks for the info. Since you are back in town we should hang out some time. Talk to ya later." It's short, simple, and to the point. You won't come across needy or like you really like him, just saying in a very chill way that you should hang out. You have probably already answered him by now. I just came across this question in the unanswered section. Hope I'm not too late and I was of some help.
