I don't think you're doing anything wrong, so don't worry there.
But then again, you said you've been friends since you were 10, at such a young age you were both very immature and she probably needs to see that you've grown up since then and that you take things more seriously. She's probably also worried that if it doesn't work out then it will ruin your friendship. Also, having a relationship with a co-worker can be difficult as many work places do not appreciate this, so at work you will have to maintain a business relationshp only.
Try talking to her, tell her how you feel. If this relationship doesn't work out, you can still be good friends and laugh in the future.
