writes: hey, not really used to this but here goes, maybe someone can help! really, just wanted some advice, i'm 21 and there's a girl i like and have kind of been after for some time, i don't work with her or see her that often, but she lives near me and so i used to bump into her round the shops etc and we used to chat, she introduced me to her parents, who were very friendly too, and everything seemed great but we never got round to swapping numbers! she was always really lovely to talk to and then the last time i spoke to her she seemed very distant, but perhaps i am over analysing and she just had a bad day or was tired as every other time shes been great. i think she is shy, and she seems to spend a lot of time with her parents and doesn't hang out with friends, infact i have never seen her with a friend ever so maybe she's a bit of a loner? perhaps shes scared of dating if shes not had bf before and doesnt know how to react? well anyway i like her! thing is i want to get her a xmas pressie but am not sure what to get, the problem is for various reasons in my personal life, i haven't been around to see her for about 3 months so im worried she'll have forgot about me, (she knows i like her, as i got talking to her through sending a valentines card), so i presume i'll just have to go to her house which may shock her a bit, out of the blue, but what can i do? and what should i get? shes 19 by the way, any advice opinions on the whole matter would be most grateful, if anyone knows what i can get, what i can say when i go round there and what she might be thinking of me? thanks (UK)

what is there to lose if you ask her out to dinner or an activity? the worse, you'll find out that she has a boyfriend or is a lesbian! plus, since you mentioned that you're not actually around her much, i would take what chances you can ... before some other sap like you takes her out!
it's easy for me to say this online to you ... because i'm very shy myself ... but, if you have interest for her, i'd say pull your pants up and march to her door and ask her for. :)
