Question - (3 May 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 4 May 2009)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Im 17 and my boyfriends 23, ive known him since ive been 14, and for many reasons we didnt get together but now we love each other so much.

Next week im going to live with my mum which is about 3 hours away from him and i want him to come and stay for a weekend or something, my mum let my ex stay so i know she will be fine with it, but the only thing im worried about is that she wont like the age gap, but its legal because im over 16 and we love each other loads, and i dont want my mum to say no to him coming over because of the age gap, i'd be heartbroken, whats the best way to tell her?

A reader, anonymous, writes (4 May 2009):

... If you are 17 and he is 23, that only makes an age gap of 6 years, which is nothing to me. It makes no difference and as long as you love each other, thats what matters. I am 41 and my partner is 53 this year. We love each other so who cares. Your mum should accept this. if she does'mt, then I should talk to her about things. After all, your boyfriend is now an adult and I think he should be responsible enough also to talk to your family.

Hope this helps.
