writes: I met this girl at work about 3 weeks ago, she is 18 and I just turned 23. I am very attracted to her and we get along well. Unfortunately she is going away to college in about a month and i dont know the next time i will see her. Although weve flirted i havent said anything to her about how i feel and time is running out. I dont really realistically expect a relationship out of this based on the circumstances but i feel like im gonna regret it so much if i dont say/do something! Any suggestions on how to approach this situation???

reader, anonymous, writes (11 July 2008): Write down everything you want to say. Everything on your mind, what you'll miss, what you want to do - look up some sweet phrases on the internet and stuff.
Then you can turn your ideas into a letter, or you can try and learn it off by heart and say it. Obviously when you say it it'll be shorter than the letter, but if you say it you can get her a rose.
Something a friend of mine did was buy someone he liked 12 roses, and one of them was plastic and said 'I'll stop loving you the day this rose dies'.
The clever bit being the plastic never dies! - (how patronizing was that!)
Copy that if you want because I thought it was pretty sweet or make up something else.
And yes, to answer your question, you will regret it because she will find someone at college - you'll miss her and think 'what if!?'
Remember she might not want anything, but give it your best shot. At least then you can both move on knowing you tried.
