She has stabbed me in the back, should I move jobs?

Thanks in advance to all who answer here. I work in the corporate world. Most of my colleagues are ok but my current team is rather backstabbing. Last year I was part time and there was a person on the team who really was a decent person..I admired her for her decency and her integrity. I could see that others on the team excluded her from important meetings and information. I thought she was more competent than they. Now I am full time and I have noticed a change in her behaviour. It seems that she is trying to be 'in' with them and one way she is doing this is by sharing potentially damaging things about me with them..she has sold out her integrity but maybe she learned that having it was too high a price to pay. I know her husband has lost his job and that may make her feel vulnerable. Why is she acting like this and should I consider transferring out. I know the job market is not great but my piece of mind is more important.

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (27 September 2009):

She's picking on you because she sees you as a threat. You were part time, now you're full time which means you're there more often. Don't move jobs. Not yet. If she's bullying you, talk to your superiors about it. They are legally obliged to check it out, because if they don't, you can sue them. Hopefully, they'll talk to her and kick her ass into gear. But don't move yet, not until you've given a good fight for your reputation. Lots of luck.
