writes: Hi all, i really need some help and fast, my sister has fallen for a guy and i know he's a liar and a cheat. She has a 6 month old baby from him and he has gone back to England.He said he wants to get a passport, as he never had one! AND he said if you are applying for a new British passport you will be called for an interview. We are Irish and don't know the procedure, i have tried to goOgle this but got nothing. He's been gone 3 weeks now, and my elderly mother is minding the baby while my sister works.If anyone can help give me some info re, procedure on getting a British passport, i would appreciate it gratefully.

Yeah they brought in new rules about going for interviews to stop people getting fake passports.
However this could be a handy excuse to flee the country.
Has he been in touch? I mean he should be able to phone or email or something. You are in Ireland not Africa. It's not even that expensive to text.
There is an agency in the UK called the CPS which can sort out child maintenance payments to you. I am not sure how it works with you being in a foreign country but they maybe able to help if he really is trying to run from his responsibilities.
