As Ms.Anonymous says we are going to perfect our art of receiving.

Buy yourself something nice, something you can keep, and then you'll always remember the day you helped a lady in need...

Don'T feel bad, it made her happy to give it to you.
The art of RECIVING is just as important as the GIVING. you may hurt her by giving her kindness back.
However you could by a Christmas present for the dog with the money...then all will be happy.

Believe me - £9 is not very much in this day and age - please do not feel bad!!
- You did the lady a favour and she chose to repay you so everyone is happy! - It is nine pounds not ninety nine pounds so do not worry - but if it is still bugging you maybe just pop it in an envelope and send it back!!

A

reader, anonymous, writes (7 December 2008): It's difficult to say what I would do, and everything would depend on the age of the woman whose dog it was. If she was a pensioner I wouldn't have taken it in the first place, but assuming I took it as you did, I think I'd put it in an envelope and put it back through her letterbox.
If the woman was obviously not short of a few quid I'd probably buy my mother a fiver's worth of flowers or chocs and waste the rest. Alternatively, put it under your mattress for safekeeping or a rainy day - much safer than a bank or building society.

I salute you for following the spirit of the season.
Do you know of anyone who would think that amount of money is an awful lot?
Put it in an envelope and give it to them wishing them,"Merry Christmas!"
Merry Christmas to you too.!:-)

You are a lovely person!
I think she probably values her dog at more than £9 so don't feel too bad.
You could always use it to buy gifts for your family and friends for Christmas. When you get a lucky break pass it on!
Good Luck!! xx
