She broke up with me because of the distance, but now I might be moving there next year

A male United Kingdom age 36-40, *ndy00 writes:

Hi everyone. Something has happened.

My hope in life is to achieve some kind of profession in Music as a performer. A few months ago, my 2 year long relationship with a girl who lived 200+ miles away broke up with me, after she was moving to Univeristy in the Lancashire area, which she did in September.

So, I've been really hurt by the break-up after circumstances got the best of my girlfriend. We didn't speak for about a month and a half.

We just started talking again last week, and things seem ok. We're just friends, ect. But today, there's been a bombshell:

My tutor told me today, that the best place to become a performer in Music is in the Lancashire area; Manchester, Liverpool, Bradford, ect.

So now I don't know what to think! My relationship ended a short time ago because distance got to my girlfriend, and now it turn out that, within another years time, I could move up there! Not only for her, but more importantly; to try to achieve something I want in life.

On the negative side: It's still a year away, and I don't think my Dad wants me moving away because I have things so good at home.

What is going on?? It feels like this could be a lifesaver somebody is throwing me, but at the same time, it could be a grenade! What do you think of this situation? Something I want could come from it, but at the same time, it may still be too far away to salvage a relationship with the only girl I've ever loved.

For the time being, forget the girl, concentrate on the education.

If the girl wants to start up a relationship again when / if you move to Lancs., fine, if not, you'll still get your education which is probably more important.
