A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 June 2009):

Look, I'm with Ana on this - wear a condom! It is a massive, huge, gigantic myth and misconception (excuse the pun!), that you can't get pregnant when having sex in the pool (or in water). You certainly can! In fact. I read somewhere that the chlorine may in fact reduce the effectiveness of the condom. So, for more protection I agree also that using an oral contraceptive pill is a better bet.... you may have to wait to experience sex in water, but isn't this better than the alternative of falling pregnant?

Good luck!

Anastasia agony auntWear a condom both in the shower and the pool.

Pools can irriate you as well with the chlorine in it and whatever cleaning stuff they use. So just be careful.

Should be okay though...but wear a condom...did I mention wear a condom.

Hope this helps
