 I don't think he was cheating on you . There could be several reasons which we can only deduce.
1) Suddenly , he could not have a hard on to have sex with you and he would feel disgraceful or disappoint you.The cold water may have affected his libido.
2)He is afraid to let you see , he has a small penis.
3) He saw a ghost or somebody and afraid that he would be exposed.
4) It could dawned on him that he does not want to have sex for fear of the repercussions .

Perhaps when his nuts hit the water his tackle disappeared somewhere inside his abdomen and he thought you'd laugh at him because of his deficiency. Cold water has that effect on a man.
