Your first time may be uncomfortable but that would be the case no matter what his penis size is. The vagina is flexible and is built to 'accomodate' his penis even if it's big.
So yeh don't be scared :) and if you feel comfortable talking to him about it go for it, i'm sure he'll be understanding and he'll take things slow.
By the way - i'm glad you're waiting, sex isn't something you should rush into so good for you.

 I'd suggest not obsesing much about it. He needs to learn to be gentle with it and use a lot of foreplay to ensure you are sufficiently lubricated to accomodate the size.
