A female reader, becksense United Kingdom +, writes (16 May 2009):

It probably seems all-consuming this idea at the moment but if you try and keep it in proportion to other things in your life more positive then it will feel a lot less overwhelming. How about taking up a new hobby or interest to keep you busy and who knows.Remain positive and remember there have been people famous or ordinary who have passed through life single and still lived life to the full.Everybody's different so don't be hard on yourself.Let life develop in front of and around you rather than keeping such a tight grip on things.Hope this helps.Take a deep breath and relax.

Oh, anon,..you "youngster", you..(smile). You have so much time...and you are a very young woman. Perhaps you are too involved in your work, or whatever, and not actively seeking a social life or contacts. If you want to meet eligible men who are in your age range and same social level, you must get out and go where you are most likely to meet them. You can't just depend on the "accidental" meeting. Friends may introduce you to those you might be interested in, but, you must HAVE friends for even that to happen. Do you have friends? Do you know the story of the "Wall Flower"? She was a beautiful flower, but everyone thought she was happy just being on the wall and not joining them, so no-one ever asked her....
