A female United States age 36-40, *ove wanted writes:

ok here is the deal i am in a long distance relationship for about five months and my boyfriend has not ever said i love u to me. all of a sudden he begins to say it to me but when i ask him about it he says that he is being sarcastic but he does it more than once. i do not know if he is being real or not. i mean i love him but im afraid that if i say it to him that i will chase him away and i dont want that. my question is: is five months long enough to say i love u to someone? and if my boyfriend says i love u but brushes it off as he is being sarcastic , is he being real and jus to afraid to admit it?

I think five months is enough time...but then again it just depends on the person. Firstly, do YOU love him? You don't say it just for the comfort, you say it because you mean it. That aside, if you love him then you should tell him. If he acts sarcastic then don't be afraid to tell him how you feel (that it bothers you) , since it is your love that you are putting on the line.

He may love you (i don't know) but I know sarcasm is often used to avoid serious topics at least. Maybe someone else can read deeper into his sarcasm.
