BAD. i don't really know if it's because she doesn't change the litter box as much as she should? if i had to guess, that is a big part of it. but every time i get home and walk inside, i'm smacked in the face by the overwhelming smell of cat. i'm constantly opening doors to air out the smell, burning candles, spraying febreeze, vacuuming, etc. nothing gets rid of the smell. not to forget to mention that every time i sit down on the couch, when i get up, i'm wearing a fur coat. everything i own is now covered in cat hair. even sitting down to eat i can't manage not to get hair in my food!! it's disgusting!! i can't live like this anymore but i don't know what to say to my roommate. i've put up with it for so long, that i'm afraid if i say something now, she won't take me seriously. but i don't want to have to find a new roommate. what should i do?? besides "accidentally" opening up the front door and letting them free?

You need to say something! I have myself 3 cats and most people would have no clue when walking into my house. I change litterboxes twice a day, I vacuum daily and I don't feed my cats cheap food ( cheap food tends to make fecal matter stinkier).
Talk to her. Also I would invest in a few odor "smell pretties" with sensors near the door til she gets the odor under control.

Say something about it! You can live just fine with cats as long as you make an effort with the cleaning. Your roommate is just being lazy about it, and she won't change unless you say something. Sit her down and talk to her!
