A female United Kingdom age 36-40, chandra Mcmillan writes:

At 14 years old I was a rebel a girl who thought she could handle herself, go out drinking, sleep with men and do as she wished. I learnt the hard way, as I journied home I was pulled into an alley and brutally beaten and raped by 2 grown men. They even stole my school bag and riffled through it beside me, so they knew I was at secondary school.

I was admitted to hospital with a broken nose, 5 broken ribs, bruising, a bust lip, 2 black eyes and tearing to my vagina. I also had a slight fracture to my skull where they had hit me with a Brick while holding me down. I was then taken for blood tests and had to revisit the clinic every 4 weeks for more to check me for any Sexually Transmitted diseases. Luckily I was clear but this did not stop the way I was thinking. I began to believe I had brought it on myself, the flirting, the drinking. But I realised I was stupid for doing all those things BUT THEY HAD NO RIGHT.

Most women or girls or men or boys who have been raped hide away and make themselves live a life of dread and fear. I WILL NOT. I am 20 now and I have explained what has happened to me to my 13 year old step daughter, I have taught her ways in which to protect herself and grab peoples attention if she ever needs it. I will stand by any person male or female who has been raped and give them the strength they need to continue life. The nightmares will never subside but they fade away slightly until thats all they are a bad dream.

Any adults, parents, please dont take the risk of endangering yourselves or your kids. Discuss things stratergies , tell your kids were the nearist hospital police station or somewhere safe is, Buy them a rape alarm. Tell them if they are being grabbed kick cars so the alarms sound frightens the attacks, kick them in the balls and run as fast as you can. You could even take them to a self deffence class. There are classes on utube you can watch together. RAPE IS REAL, BUT VICTIMS ARE NOT GOING TO BE AFRAID ANYMORE. THE ATTACKERS ARE.

BE SAFE !

chandra Mcmillan agony auntThank You Pete it is somthing I strongly am trying to get through to Young girls and as Many boys as I can. As for some reson people believe it is only girls who are raped but we all know this is not the case.

I am trying to get schools in my local area to allow me to go and speak with girls and boys seperatly about it and giving them an email if they have been through it and think they need advice, so I can get them any help they may need, weather it be a councilor or help with any STI testing.

Thankyou for your comment as it backs up that people are just not as careful as they could be when there are unsavioury and sick characters around in the world.

Hopefully at the very least your article will stop one person from putting themselves in a situation where they will end up being raped. I have known far too many teen girls and friends who were raped whilst they were drinking or partying. Whilst working in university halls of residence during my final year, I had to deal with a number of upsetting rape incidents; all avoidable. Very sad, but hopefully with more information and witness stories likes yours young people will be more clued up.

All people, guys and girls should remember to always stay in a safe environment - especially if they are under the influence of any drink or drugs.
