Naturally my hair is a dark brown

A year about I had about half of my hair died blonde, I have gone back to the hairdressers to get my roots re-died every time they needed it. I need to die my hair again soon, but I don't have the spare money to spend on a hairdressers. I used a hair die product from my local supermarket that die's the roots of your hair, but my hair has turned a ginger colour :S If I buy the same hair die product and go over my roots again, will it make the gingerness turn blonde or will it make it worse? :S Help ASAP Please!!

SirenaBlusera agony auntRevlon is a good brand! I've had good luck with them, and they don't do animal testing. Get something ashy, they have a good selection of colors.

I know it doesn't directly pertain to your question but I REFUSE to buy from a company that tests their stuff on animals, because it's so cruel!!)

I used to be a natural ginger and now my hair is a dark ash brown naturally... and y'all are dying your hair ash??? Dude that's a crime. I wish I were still naturally a ginger.

I think black hair is sexy on guys but I dyed my hair jet black and I looked awful... everyone says I should have had the flaming shade of red hair. I'm thinking of henna but I have reservations and don't know if it's safe or if it will last. (My henna tattoos never last that long)

I don't think anyone should dye their hair blonde, just my opinion. I dyed my hair blonde and it was a huge mistake... I looked so cheap.

I cant be bothered reading anyone elses answers but here we go

1. You may have bought a lightener which would turn your roots ginger with the intention that another product should be used on top to turn the ginger to blonde, because you're stripping the hair of colour you have either 1. not left it on long enough or 2. Because your hair is dark its stripped off as much as colour as it can

so what you do is this

Buy a blonde hair dye with ash tones and use that, which should turn the ginger to blonde, DO NOT use any blonde hair dye with brass tones such as red, orange etc.

I recommend XXL absolute blonde, its good. My hair is red and dark brown just now though, but yeah I've been black, dark brown, brown, light brown, blonde, red, purple and blue so take my advice xD

leaf_ lady agony auntIf you buy the same product that didn't work that well before, it probably wont work this time either. Jerome Russell peroxide is good, You can get it from Boots and superdrug and as its high lift it will definatley get rid of your unwanted colour.

A reader, anonymous, writes (21 August 2010):

If you use the same color more likely it will make it worse. Warm color hair dyes tend to make your hair have more red in it. The best thing to do is to dye your hair a darker color. Or you could go a professional and have the red in your hair taken out [but since you said you cant afford it i suggest going darker]. Thats one thing about dying your hair blonde, you have to keep dying the roots. I hope you do whats best and maybe next time you go shopping for hair dye you should bring someone who knows about it [I had the same situation with my hair, it was horrible, my mom picks out my hair dye now]. I hope this helps you.:]
