Questions about the soft cup

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Looking for a bit of advice mainly from the female aunts here. To anyone who's ever used a Softcup during sex, was it effective at preventing any mess? Could you and/or your partner feel it? On a scale of 1-10, how difficult did you find it to insert and remove?

I've never used Softcups before, and you can only buy them online in the UK. They aren't the sort of sanitary protection I'd usually go for, but I'm meant to be seeing my LDR boyfriend soon, and Aunt Flo's due to pay me a visit around the same time. Naturally, I could really do without her ruining our plans! Thanks ever so for any help :)

A female reader, So_Very_Confused United States +, writes (15 January 2012):

So_Very_Confused agony auntAh I had to read all the way down till I figured out what a soft cup was.... I"m USA here... I used a diaphragm years and years ago and it was a similar thought... never felt it and rarely had a mess unless the flow was very very heavy and I waited till morning to clean up...

BTW there's nothing wrong with a bit of a mess during sex when you have your period... DAMN THE SHEETS full speed ahead" is what we would say (I am past the age of periods now)

Best thing is to just put a towel down under you if you are worried.... or navy or black sheets...

If you are using tampons now, you should not have too much of a problem inserting... you may want to practice when you don't have your period...

oh and if you can't do it sitting on the toilet or with one leg up, try lying on your back...

and you can't be afraid to touch yourself and check it for positioning....
