reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2009): It can help, but not necessarily. Viagra does not give you an instant erection, except in those rare cases of the famous 4 hour erection. You still need to be aroused to have Viagra work. If you take Viagra and have nothing to get you aroused then you will not normally get an erection at all before it wears off. However, it does make it possible to get an erection with less stimulation than normal and to keep it longer.
There are some drugs that, when taken with Viagra, can lower your blood pressure to the point of health risk or even death in very rare cases. This is because Viagra lowers blood pressure by dilating the blood vessels. It is not wise to take it without seeing a doctor first, but many people do.
I have read that some men have used it successfully to solve anxiety related ED. It makes it easier to keep an erection and help your confidence. However, it is best to just use it temporarily to solve the problem and then to get off it once you have gained confidence. As with any drug, it can lose its effectiveness over time as your body changes.

reader, anonymous, writes (17 July 2009): Best to speak to a doctor about this first, as SOlife said it's a drug and you should always consult a doctor before taking it, there are certain underlying health problems that can make it a dangerous drug to take.
