One final concept. Sperm cells are not exactly "alive" - not as if any kind of "being" or person or anything. It is incomplete. It contains some components - called gametes and zygotes, plus vital nutrition and other things, that might both initiate (spark) and support conception If even just one cell reaches and "fertilizes" an ova. But technically, spermatozoa each are very fragile male components of life looking for it's necessary female counterpart in order to fulfill it's purpose. Most never do.

Just a little more info here.As suggested, the survival of sperm either within a man's scrotum or after ejaculation into a vagina is about that same three days - either before being absorbed within the man's body or reaching it's target - an ovum. So, egg production by a female is periodic, while manly sperm production is believed to remain fairly constant. Interesting. Is this why men apparently experience no correlating event to a menstrual period - or menopause? Or do we? I do not know and have not found much research. Yet - why am I asking you? LOL

That's about right. Sperm likely survives a maximum of a couples of minutes if released into the cold, cruel world of a condom, toilet or floor. But according to all I have read over the past 20 years or so - inside the ultimate comfort of a healthy woman's vagina, cervix and womb - it may thrive for two or three days. Additionally, sperm survives only approximately the same three days if NOT ejaculated, after which it is reabsorbed by the man's body. It is believed that production is pretty much a continuous operation, and there is no such thing as old sperm unless frozen for invitro-fertilization or whatever.

it really depends on the environment. after ejaculation sperm usually die outside of the body after a few hours.
Also, too sperm can not live in hot temperatures.
