I started taking the pill about a week ago, because i wanted to be prepared and didn't know the implications of starting taking it when my next period began. I started taking it around about the time i would have my period. I did this in order to stop it happening and now i'm worried i have messed it up. I haven't had my period since then but have had a brownish discharge only a small amount...is this my period? I have had stomach pains also. I am not sure whether to stop taking it so that i have my period, or to continue taking it and have my bleed when the 21 days are up. i didn't want to tell anyone cause i didn't want them to think i am sexually active, but if this is serious like for example an infection i am willing to tell them. girl (please do not print in your magazine)

Dear anonymous writer,
I would go to your doctors and tell the doctor what is going on with your period, some girls can not take the pill because of the side effects, but stop taking them and see if all the pain comes back. here are the side effects of the pill
Possible side effects:
amenorrhea (absence of a monthly period)
irregular bleeding
heavy bleeding
abdominal pain
headaches.
i would stop taking them and go talk to your doctor about it and he or she can try something else for you!
