reader, anonymous, writes (25 March 2009): Sorry I didn't directly answer your question, the answer is yes it should be fairly easy to keep this a strictly private matter with neither the guy nor your parents finding out, but it's not something I'd recommend going through alone.
It doesn't take very long to recover from a normal abortion, physically. So your absence won't really be noticable.

Then again if you also have Mexican nationality and speak Spanish it might be worth doing a search online for Mexican family planning clinics etc. and get some advice from them. You also should go see a doctor they too might be able to discuss options with you.

the guy is from here.. the college does not offerthat kind of support. and personally I would like to keep this as private as it can get.
which is why i'd rather not tell the guy..and just get the abortion done..

I have no idea what country you are in so it's very hard to advise you since the laws and attitudes in different countries differ so much.
Is the father from the country you are in?
If so then your best bet is to talk to him. He has to know unfortunately. He will also be able to speak the language and will know of clinics and places you can go for your abortion.
If you are an exchange student then you must have some form of support network at the college / university so is there a someone there who is supposed to be your contact in an emergency? Talk to them. You have to talk to someone about this.
