reader, anonymous, writes (18 May 2010): Hi - all my siblings are technically half siblings to me however they are my brothers and sisters (not a statistic) therefore to my children ... they are aunts and uncles etc. Family is family, why do we need to define it right down to the last drop of blood shared?

 On your family side,it would be 1/2 niece or 1/2 nephew and on your step uncle's side, it would be niece and nephew. This is the correct version (Please ignore the earlier post.)
