Well not diffficult, more like nothing is coming out. It takes me over a day to finally pass out stool. Its been like that for a few months, maybe its my diet!? I dont think its an anal fissure, it doesnt feel like anything is ripping and i wasnt bleeding afterwards!

dr.2.be agony auntPlease see your doctor immediately.

Blood while passing stool is not normal. Many medical conditions can cause bloody stool such as hemmorhoids, ulcers, GI tract infections, and even cancer.

Take note of your symptoms. Do you have any kind of abdominal pain? Is the stool you do pass black and tarry? Do you have periods of diahrrea alternating with periods of constipation? Is there any vomiting involved? Is your abdomen tender to the touch? These are all crucial for correct diagnosis by your doctor. Be prepared to take a stool sample as well and you may be scheduled for a colonoscopy. These will help determine what you have.

It is a possibility that your diet can be causing the constipation. Diets low in whole grains and fiber can cause impacted stools and make it hard for them to pass. Use of some medications can cause constipation as well, including excessive use of painkillers. Tisha-1 posted a link in her answer. If you are using painkillers to help you sleep, this can be a huge culprit. Painkillers can cause constipation as well as stomach bleeding, which explains passing of blood. This is a serious condition and not to be fooled around with. See your doc as soon as possible!

Good Luck and feel better!

Tisha-1 agony auntI have no idea if they are related; I'm not a trained medical professional. What I do know, though, is that if you have blood where there's not supposed to be any and you are abusing painkillers that may have an impact on your blood and circulation, that you should go get it checked out. By someone who knows, not by amateurs on the web.

You're taking chances you don't need to be.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (27 August 2009):

Normal, no! Boody stools are not normal. On rare occasions you may tear an intestinal wall by a sliver of undigested bone, plastic fork tine or something simlar.

Since you are constipated you may have hemorrhoids (inflamed varicose veins)inside your anus. Pushing hard to relieve the stool may have caused them to rupture accounting for the blood.

It is likely that you need ruffage or a regular stool softener from now on to make you bowel movements easier. An enema will also relieve your constipation.

But DO NOT SELF DIAGNOSE. Go see a doctor if you have a second bout of blood in your stool.

Tisha-1 agony auntUnless you are on your period and it is menstrual fluid, blood in the toilet is a sign you need to see a doctor ASAP. Like, tomorrow.

Don't mess around with your health. You should also tell the doctor about these other issues too:
